Treasures

A few months back, I visited this antique shop along Airline Highway and found this for $5!

antique watch

watch (back)

It’s was not working (as expected) but I’m drawn to it… maybe it’s because watch/clock faces are timeless and hey, I could just take it a part and add it to my scrapbook projects. It’ll be cool to put the watch mechanism too. Anyway, when I got home, I took it out of it’s packaging and noticed that the hands move if I shake the watch… hmmm…. interesting, maybe there’s hope? I kept it in my treasure box for future projects…

Then a few nights ago, I was putting back my scrapbook stuff and stumbled on it, admired it for a while and then noticed the crown, I started turning it and to my surprise found that the watch works! It dawned on me that this is one of those old types where you have to wind it every now and then for it to continuously work. I AM SO HAPPY! I started to look at little details… it’s 10k gold and Swiss Made!… no wonder it’s not faded like most fashion jewelries. This is such a treasure and for $5 I am (again) over the moon! {lol}

dress form

Now it’s on display in my scraptuary and everytime I look at it, it makes me happy. I wonder who owned it before…. I’m sure she (or he?) loved it as much as I do!

Oh, and the dress form is another treasure. Found it at Marshalls for $9.99, comes in vintage white, black & dusky pink and in various styles. I saw one like this at Pier 1 late last year retailing at $25 and I was waiting for it to be on sale but then we have to go on our December trip and when we got back I didn’t see it on the shelves. Well, I always believe there is a reason for everything and if you just let things go there is bound to be something better down the road… :-)

Thanks for dropping by and have a happy weekend!
