When it’s just us on a Friday

•February 5, 2010 • 2 Comments

We do this on a perfect sunny, Spring-y day. Mind you, that’s not all we do, least you think we are all play… :-P But watching her do her antics makes my day brighter. I asked her one day why we have to go outside and with a matter-of-fact expression, she said,

Mama, I want to say hello to the peoples!”

Peoples” = the neighbors who are either walking their dogs, driving by or just going about their daily exercise.

This photos were taken last Friday after we sent Charlize to school. The weather was beautiful and how can I say no to that face? She was quite proud to show me that now she knows how to jump rope, albeit the other way around (the rope starts in front of her going backward).  :-)

It’s amazing how my little sunshine has grown…

Every now and then the thought of her going to school in Fall and me all alone at home makes me sad. Although, I have to be honest, there are days when I hope she is in school. I’m afraid I am not doing her learning any justice. I can feel she is SO ready for school but now the question is, am I?

These days I catch myself quitely watching her as she plays or sings to herself while she “works” or makes a  mess with her watercolors/paints. I can’t help but think that come August, she won’t be here to ask me for help on something or silently stand beside me to catch my attention so she can say “I love you!” or just so she can sit on my lap while I’m at the computer.

With this in mind, I am finding myself less irritated that she’s making a mess instead I make the mess with her and we clean up after. :-)

Needless to say, I haven’t been scrapping much and this blog is a bit neglected. It used to bug me big time but now it’s ok, as I’ve been saying and Charlize knows this line… “It’s not the end of the world.” :-)

Have a happy weekend everyone!

The thing about yesterday

•February 2, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Before yesterday’s incident I couldn’t figure out why some shoppers still pay with a cheque at the grocery store when there is the convenience of swiping a card, be it a debit or credit card. Well folks, I happen to pay with a cheque for my groceries yesterday.

Story is, my wallet was not in my bag and I thought hmmmm… Chiara must have been playing with it in the morning and forgot to return it in my bag!

So, I was contemplating on wasting a trip to go get it when I saw the chequebook in my bag. HA! They accept cheques and I can pay with it. Now, all I have to do is be careful when I drive home coz I am, after all, driving without my license! And to think that a police car was behind me on the way to the grocery store… unsettling!

Anyway, it ended up that my wallet fell off my bag and was wedged between the front passenger seat and door. DUH! {smacking forehead}

Lesson of the day:
1. Don’t leave your bag unzipped coz stuff are likely to fall off.
2. Don’t think people are silly when they pay their groceries with a cheque… I know it’ll hold up the line for a bit but hey, the woman is paying up people! :-)

There are days I feel like this…

Seems like I need all my energy to get through this… so I’ll be back as soon as I’m past the thorns and munching on the leaves. The view up there better be good!

Telling myself “This too shall pass…” seems to help….

NOTE: The photo above is used without written or verbal consent from the photographer. Great shot hubby dear! :-P

The Shoe Story pages

•January 21, 2010 • 2 Comments

Got to work on the pages of the album. Yay me! :-P

I decided to use Kraft for the base page, I think it goes well with the cover and I’ll also continue the damask pattern throughout the album. Got Heidi Swapp’s Damask Stickers in pink and black, so I’ll be alternating those.

Here’s a closer look at the pages:

Found the masking tape at Michaels last night and I am DeLiGhTeD!!! I realized they are actually the same texture and stickiness as the painter’s tape, the only difference is the color. So if I need something blue I’m sure to reach out for the painter’s tape. :-)

Ah, simple pleasures! Have a happy day wherever you are!

The Shoe Story

•January 19, 2010 • 3 Comments

Currently working on this:

Remember this layout?

Well, I decided to make a mini-book about the shoes I have instead of just a layout of a couple of them. How did this come about?

When I was little, my cousins, siblings and I love trying on my mother’s shoes. We would walk around the house and even run around the front yard in them, with matching purses nonetheless!  :-P My mother would have been mortified had she seen what we were doing with her pretty shoes!  But we had so much fun and I wished I had a photo of her beautiful shoes and how her choices changed from real high heels in different colors to more practical ones as the years went by.

So, this book is created and I have a picture in my head of my daughters or grand daughters looking through the pages and giggling coz I had funny shoes or oohhhing & ahhhing coz I had really pretty ones. End of the day, it’s all about documenting my shoes story. What story will you be telling today?

Post Script
I will show you the inside pages when I’m done. :-)

Lift Me Up Challenge

The teams’ challenge entries are revealed at Cocoa Daisy. What an amazing bunch of scrappers… go see everyone’s work HERE! Mine is this one:

but as usual after making the page I felt something is missing so, I ended up adding the word strips at the bottom of the photo. :-)

Have a joyous weekend everyone!

I’m lovin’ it!

I love watching Alvin and the chipmunks cartoon show when I was little and it’s amazing that they are back and I am able to share my love for these chipmunks with my kids!

These are the toys that comes with the McDonald’s kiddie meals and we plan on collecting all 6 of the characters. We got Alvin first and he has been everywhere with Chiara. She’s constantly asking, “Where’s my chipmunk?” the moment Alvin is out of sight. Now that we have Eleanor, she’s letting go of the other two. :-)

I specially love that when you push down their hair, they have something to say:

ALVIN: Heelllooo gorgeous!

SIMON: Parampampam, I’m lovin; it!

ELEANOR: It is beautiful!

We hope to watch the movie over the weekend. The girls are pretty excited… specially after watching this.  :-)

Some kind of change

•January 13, 2010 • 5 Comments

I have been toying with the idea of moving my blog somewhere for sometime now. A daunting undertaking since I have been blogging with WordPress for a couple of years now. So in the hopes of a better blogging platform, I signed up for a free trial. I was tinkering around and getting to know the new site but realized I needed more time (which I am constantly short of) to start afresh. And then there’s the issue of the monthly subscription. FREE vs $$$/month, you bet the former won hands down!

So what’s a Mama to do? I started changing some stuff here and there and will continue updating some parts of this blog. Yes, WordPress, you will be happy to know that I will be staying with you. :-)

On the scrappy side of things, my Cocoa Daisy January kit arrived yesterday!

I was able to play yesterday morning before fetching the kids and heading to Walmart but not with this kit. The photo was perfect with CD’s November kit, so I used that for the Lift Me Up challenge instead. Our team won (YAY!) but I’ll only be able to share it after the reveal, so sit tight. :-)

Alrighty, have to get some rest… I’m coughing my head off as it is! I KNOW! The sickies only gave me a couple of weeks reprieve before striking again… crossing my fingers the rest of the family will be spared this time. Wishing you good health and much joy wherever you are! :-)
