Started with the little one, then of course, Charlize have to give it a spin!

IMG_2434

We had a good laugh. A very nice start to our day. :-)

These two just cracks me, and drives me crazy most days but I love them to pieces! So grateful I get to witness their joy and delight in the little things in life. Hmmm… I think there’s a lesson there for me to learn, eh? :-P

Hope you get to be silly today!

Afternoon by the lake

•November 4, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Over the weekend, we visited Julie at Slidell and had a blast fishing before the kiddies went trick or treating. Sharing some pics of our afternoon by the lake.

As the sun sets, the girls got ready for trick or treating. Took a photo with Ate Justine & friend just before we head out. Not so much candy this year but it was FUN, FUN, FUN! :-)

Have a happy week everyone!

Happy Halloween!

Heading out to Slidell after lunch for some fishing then we will go around Julie’s neighborhood to Trick or Treat tonight. Last year was a blast so I’m sure this year is no different! :-)

So, as we celebrate I leave you with photos of what me and the girls did the past week and some Halloween stuff we have around the house…

IMG_1800

Bought 3 styrofoam trees of varying heights at  Michaels and painted them.

IMG_1809

Charlize helped sort out the Blings that I also bought at Michaels. We added some purple, orange and black buttons from my stash.

IMG_1816

A few minutes later, my “brads tray” came out and Chiara had so much fun just sticking it to her tree! :-)

IMG_1818 IMG_1821

Charlize on the other hand is so into the Blings! On a side note: The Zots adhesive didn’t hold the Blings well and the following day started coming off. Charlize had to re-stick the Blings + buttons using a Fabri-Tac.

IMG_2210_1

And these 3 are now on the mantle above the fireplace. Mine is the black, the purple is Charlize’s and the orange is Chiara’s.

Yesterday, Charlize had a homeroom Trick or Treat and these are what I made:

IMG_2199_1

This project is basically just transforming a little brown bag using punchers, Martha Stewart (web edge puncher, spider & Witch) + Marvy Uchida (scallop circles).

IMG_2239

These are for her 4 friends who are not in the same class with her.

Lastly, some of out Halloween decor:

Alrighty, hope you have a spook-tacular Halloween! :-)

It’s reveal time for our scraplift challenge at Cocoa Daisy, check it HERE. It was competitive and fun at the same time. I wouldn’t mind doing it the third time again! :-)

This is my page:

Lift Me Up - Caryl

This photo was taken December 11, 2008 and it’s our first snow experience. Chiara is so fascinated with the falling white fluffs and just wanted to hold it. I don’t think the cold bothered her that  much. :-) It was beautiful and I’m glad I’m able to capture her first snow experience!

Here’s the details of the layout:

IMG_2044

I’m simply in love with this Corrugated Kraft Alphas from Jillibean Soup. The texture and edgy feel + it’s Kraft just did it for me. :-)

IMG_2042_1

The unrolled cotton adds softness in this layout, it’s just the “fluff” this page needs!

I also cut-out the swirls from Cosmo Cricket’s Breezy Freezy paper from their Jolly by Golly collection and used Making Memories foam squares to raise some parts up. Love the added dimension.

IMG_2045

For the embellishments, I used Heidi Swapp’s ghost shapes- Snowflakes. Painted some, edged a couple with white paint and the others I just left as is and attached it to the page with a crystal brad.

Here’s the complete list of supplies:

Patterned Paper: MMBI (Noel), Cosmo Cricket (Jolly by Golly)
Lace Cardstock: Little Yellow Bicycle (Snowflakes)
Die Cut border: October Afternoon (Road Map – Shapes)
Journaling Spot: Making Memories (Fa La La)
Alphas: American Crafts Puffy (Rainboots), Jillibean Soup (Corrugated Kraft Alphas)
Adhesive: Kokuyo Dot’n'Roller, Making Memories Foam Squares
Embellishments: Heidi Swapp (Ghost shapes – Snowflakes), Doodlebug (Crushed Velvet Flock – White), ribbon, crystal brads, cotton

Why do I blog?

Hmmm… good question. Scary question! Well, everything about delving into your inner self in search of answers is scary. Thing is, you might not like what you find but since the question has been asked…

It’s SIMPLE really. It keeps me connected (priceless when your family and friends are living on the other side of the planet!). Plus, it’s good for my brain, keeps it from getting all mushy. :-)

And then, there’s the sharing and learning thing. Writing about how I feel at certain times takes the drama out of an otherwise explosive situation. I’m not big on confrontation and writing helps put things in perspective. Well, it certainly is cheaper than having therapy (retail or otherwise)! {lol}

Oh, and on a side note (a very important one), I think this guy gets it. Check out his post HERE or at http://www.idratherbewriting.com/2008/11/05/the-best-training-for-corporate-bloggers-live-with-a-mommy-blogger/ (just in case the link doesn’t work).

So, how about you? Do you blog?

…toward my dream.

I received an email from Rebecca Grinder of Outside the Box asking permission to feature my work. I’m ecstatic to say the least! Check it out HERE and the cool calendar she made. There are also great ideas/projects that she linked in the post, so, go see!

love calendar

This one is hanging in hubby’s office and I am in the process of making the 2010 one. Well, I kind of started a few projects too, so I hope I can at least finish one or two by the end of the week. I can’t wait to get into the calendar project though! :-)

The weekend was spent cleaning the house and taking out the Winter clothes and keeping the Spring/Summer ones. My “FOR GOODWILL” bag is getting full so might drop by this coming weekend.

Hubby is finishing off the girls’ scrap tables. Initially, I asked him to make one for Charlize, unfortunately, the girls quarreled over it, so now he made another one. I’ll post a pic once he’s done.

Last week Cocoa Daisy did another round of Lift Me Up (scrap lift challenge) and it was fun and competitive. I’ll show you my page once everyone is done. Right now we have to be mum about it. ;-)

Have a happy day  wherever you are!

With a heavy heart, I say…

goodbye.

OLW-Blinkie

One Little Word (OLW) has been a place of inspiration and although I don’t play every time a new word is up, it’s been a weekly thing to just go and take a peek. Today I did that and was sad to hear the news that they are closing the challenge blog. I will surely miss it but I do understand that sometimes things in life calls for hard decisions like this. I’m just grateful I get the chance to play along every now and then…

So what has me so quiet?

Yesterday was my father’s 3rd year death anniversary. He was diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer on December 2005 and was given 6 months to live. He passed away after 10 months, exactly 1 month after his 64th birthday. I was in Singapore then and Chiara was only 4 months old. He did not see her and I wished I was with him on his last days… It seems ages ago, miss him terribly but I’m at peace with it.

On the brighter side of things, we had a long weekend. It was Viven’s off last Friday and he worked on Charlize’s scrap table. I have to have one made for her coz she’s invading my space! :-) I’ll take a pic when it’s all painted and “dolled up”.

Saturday was a full day. 10am we headed to the Westbank for a Halloween event organized by Viven’s colleagues. It was a chilly day but the sun’s up… beautiful Autumn weather! The girls love to play on the playground and after lunch had a blast decorating their pumpkins.

IMG_1916

A glitter-y pumpkin and a three eyed alien pumpkin anyone? :-)

IMG_1948 IMG_1952

Then a pony ride before we left {can’t miss that}, it completes the outing. 1 pm we headed back to the Eastbank for Charlize’s school fair. She performs at 2:30 pm but we have to be there by 2 pm so they can practice a bit.

IMG_1976

She’s part of the Spirit Squad, the little cheerleaders. After 3rd grade, you can join the school’s cheerleading team.

IMG_2008

Then her class performed at 3:30pm. After that we were free to explore the fair.

IMG_2019

IMG_2012

Oh and the ribbon on her hair was made from my ribbon stash. Forgot they need a blue or yellow or white bow, what to do?  :-)

We left the fair at 4pm, had some rest and headed out to a friend’s house for dinner. Jasper was not feeling well, so he had to stay home and rest. Poor guy…

After all that activity, we stayed home on Sunday and practically lazed around the house. Monday was a school holiday for Charlize {clean up day after the fair}. She had a play date with Isabella, so dropped her off at 10-ish then went on some errands. Fetched her at 1-ish and we headed to Elmwood for some fun. ;-)

See, told you it was a long weekend… Have a happy day everyone!

Right now

I’m a busy bee buzzing around the house cleaning up and it feels good! Charlize wanted to decorate her room for Halloween so, I have a few projects with the girls in the coming days.  FUN!

Hubby is currently working on the kitchen island, he had a little accident over the weekend which resulted in damage control… sprayed white sealant instead of clear on stained wood. For now, here’s a peek…

IMG_1790

Jasper is making a couple of these…

IMG_1785

Last year he sold one Joey Jordison (Slipknot All Hope is Gone) inspired mask for a little over US$ 200 on ebay. Hope the auction  goes well this year.

Charlize’s school fair is this weekend and I can’t wait to see her in her first cheerleading performance!  Go Gators Go! :-)

IMG_1788

And our little one is currently so engrossed doing this:

IMG_1779

She’s so focused most of the time that there is just no interrupting her. If you want to make her do something you have to say it along this lines,

“Sweetie, can you put the placemats on the table after that page?”

and she’s okay with that. If you tell her to do it now and finish the page later then be prepared for the consequences! {lol}

Alrighty, have to go get lunch ready. Have a happy day everyone! :-)
