A movie and a layout

Hubby and I went to see New Moon last Friday! So happy! :-)

I thought I have to wait for the DVD to come out but even  with the possibility of work calling him, he still went with me (they did call, before it started and in the middle, so he missed a few scenes :-( ). Thanks Dear, it means a lot to me:-)

For me, the start of the movie was a bit of a bore. Once the momentum was built, however, it was a great ride. The action part did not disappoint and with hot guys baring their torsos, it was a eye-candy too! I am on Team Edward but I have to admit Jacob looked amazing! *gigle*giggle*

Hubby might not understand my fascination with the Twilight saga but he is totally cool with it (don’t you just love him?). {lol}

Anyway, I was so curious how they will portray Bella through those months of just existing coz the torment of losing Edward was all there is in the first part of the book. Well, it was cleverly done. I also love the ending, such a tease… just left me wanting to see Eclipse ASAP! Maybe I’ll read the book again… :-)

On the scrappy side of things, I managed to finish this layout yesterday. Thanks to hubby for the title! Yup, I do ask his opinion every now and then. :-)

Those are the things on my wishlist right now. I hope to wear one of those dresses to hubby’s company dinner party but I’m still 50/50 on spending on something I might only wear once. Most likely I’ll just grab something from the closet but oh, I do want to feel girly, even if it’s only once a year! {lol} Now comes the dilemma… *sigh*

The dressform is cut out felt. I used a Barbie clothes packaging which I cut to shape and then used as pattern. It was also used on the vellum background. I placed the cut out pattern under the vellum and just shaded using a pencil… I think most of us used this technique in grade school with leaves/coins and crayons! I always thought that the images that came out is so cool. :-)

To embellish the dressform, I rolled up Tim Holtz’s film strip ribbon to imitate the dresses’ lines, then topped it with a Prima old lace + glass flower (found at Michaels) + Making Memories Pearl brad. Added some Prima Swirls (which I bought in 2007) and flowers and finished with Creative Imaginations alphas for the title. I love how it turned out! :-)

This week, I hope to finish my December Daily. I’ve done painting the covers I just need to put in some details and then get the papers, page protectors, transparencies and embellishments in. But with the kiddies on Thanksgiving break this week, getting things done will be a challenge coz I want to spend time playing with them. I just want to enjoy this time before the holiday rush comes, er… before they get all grown up and are embarrassed for hugs and kisses and cuddles. :-)

So, hope you have a happy day wherever you are!

New Moon will officially open on Friday Nov 20. As I don’t have anyone to watch with me and I hate going alone, I’ll just have to wait for the DVD to come out and buy it. In the meantime, I finished this for a Twilight challenge over at Cocoa Daisy.

And here are the details of the layout:

I just love this conversation Bella and Edward had at the clearing (where Edward showed Bella what he is capable of):

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…,” he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.

“What a stupid lamb,” I sighed.

“What a sick, masochistic lion.” He stared into the shadowy forest for a long moment, and I wondered where his thoughts had taken him.

DISCLAIMER: Only 1 Twilight Paperback was ruined in the making of this layout. Oh and the cover of my DVD.  :-P

Before I go, just something to share on the detail of the title. Those are Heidi Swapp’s ghost alphas (rhyme upper). To add interest, I used Tim Holtz’s alcohol ink (Cranberry)… a very close color to real blood! :-)

Alrighty, off to sulk… Kidding aside, I hope you have a happy weekend! :-)

Vintage Printer’s Tray Project

Got to finish this last Thursday and up on the wall on Friday (with hubby’s help… thanks Dear!).

EDITED: Whopsie… in my rush I forgot to mention the inspiration of this project came from my favorite Ali Edwards. That’s what you get for staying up til 4am… tsk, tsk, tsk. Anyway, if you want to check Ali Edwards’ project, you’ll find it HERE.

I also finished my first handmade Christmas ornament (I’ll make a separate post on it). I am participating in Cocoa Daisy’s Christmas Ornament Swap and in the midst of scrapbooking I just had this inspiration and so the layout has to wait… :-)

I love making it and may be making some more to add to our Tree Of Life. Right now our tree has some Martha Stewart DIY ornaments that I did with the girls, it’ll be a nice addition. :-)   Oh, but see what Chiara did with it when it first arrived.

She’s pretending it’s a piano… hehehe… the sillies strikes back! Hope you have a happy day wherever you are!

Sports and an online crop

Yup, that pretty much sums our weekend. :-)

We had a great time watching the Pacquiao vs Cotto boxing match! This is actually the first Pacquiao fight that I sat and watched from beginning to end and it was not a disappointment. Pacquiao winning it is the icing on the cake. Truly one of the greatest boxing fights I’ve seen! Both fighters were so good. Thanks to hubby for letting me know what I have been missing… teehee…

On to other things, Charlize and Isabella’s playdate went great. I hope next time they get to play longer. :-)

And despite a busy weekend, I managed to finish two layouts for Cocoa Daisy’s online crop challenges. Thanks to hubby (again!) for taking care of the cooking and kids while I busy myself with paper, trimmer and glue. :-)

Last Saturday we joined the Walk to Cure Diabetes at Audubon Park, organized by JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International). It was good to be out and about, the weather, the park, the people who came from different organizations made it such a beautiful experience.

Diabetes is another disease (the other being lung cancer) that has significance in our family, my aunt and Jasper’s grandmother died of it. So, I’m glad that in a small way we were able to lend a hand in finding a cure for it.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing laundry and finishing up some projects and a book, The Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. I started reading a few months back and then the Twilight books came and it has been “parked” on my nightstand. Figured I might as well finish it. :-)

Alrighty, have to wrap up some stuff before the weekend is here. Have a happy day!

Been busy

I’m trying to finish off projects so I can move on to other projects + a few things happening over the weekend got me busy (look out for my Over the Weekend post tomorrow, we did something good last Saturday).

We have some problems with the house and the owner came to visit last Friday. So, the repairs are in full swing, I had people from 3 different companies come yesterday… things are looking good. The roofing guys got the problems sorted out yesterday, the aircon guy gave us an ok, so, we are left with the bathroom people to fix the walls of the bathroom and the delivery people to deliver the new fridge. :-)

This Friday and Saturday is pretty busy too. I have Charlize’s friend Isabella for playdate after school, both girls are excited! I am too actually… teeheee…

Then Saturday, we are hosting a Pacquiao vs Cotto potluck gathering. Hubby is such a big fan of Pacquiao and we invited some friends over. It’s going to be fun!

On top of that I have a Cocoa Daisy Fall Crop that runs the entire weekend. All is good! :-)

Okay, I’ve blabbered enough already so I leave you with photos of the details of the layout:

We had a good laugh. A very nice start to our day. :-)

These two just cracks me, and drives me crazy most days but I love them to pieces! So grateful I get to witness their joy and delight in the little things in life. Hmmm… I think there’s a lesson there for me to learn, eh? :-P

Hope you get to be silly today!

Over the weekend, we visited Julie at Slidell and had a blast fishing before the kiddies went trick or treating. Sharing some pics of our afternoon by the lake.

As the sun sets, the girls got ready for trick or treating. Took a photo with Ate Justine & friend just before we head out. Not so much candy this year but it was FUN, FUN, FUN! :-)
